Terms of Service
Last updated: February 23, 2026
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Self, including the website, studio experience, billing features, and hosted resume pages. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. About the Service
Self is a platform that turns uploaded resumes or portfolios into hosted webpages. The Service lets you upload files, uses AI to extract structured data, generates pages from templates, and hosts previews and published pages under a Self domain.
2. Acceptance and Eligibility
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
3. Accounts and Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
We may require verification or additional information to access certain features and may refuse, suspend, or terminate access if we reasonably believe your use violates these Terms or presents a security risk.
4. Your Content and License
"User Content" includes the files you upload, data extracted from them, edits or settings you provide, and resulting page content you publish. You retain ownership of your User Content.
You grant Self a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, modify, and display your User Content solely to operate, maintain, and provide the Service.
If you publish a page, you authorize Self to make that content publicly available and distribute it over the internet. You represent that you have all rights required to upload and publish your User Content.
5. AI Features and Output
The Service uses automated systems and AI to parse and format your content. Output may contain errors, omissions, or formatting issues.
You are responsible for reviewing and approving all content before publishing or sharing. We do not guarantee output quality, uniqueness, completeness, or fitness for a specific purpose.
6. Publishing and Visibility
Published pages are public by default and may be indexed by search engines. Do not publish sensitive personal information unless you are comfortable with it being publicly available.
You can unpublish or delete pages in the studio. Removal from caches, backups, or search indexes may take time.
Self may include technical elements or attribution, such as a "Powered by Self" link, to operate and market the Service.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purpose.
- Upload or publish content that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights.
- Misrepresent your identity, credentials, or affiliations.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by scraping, probing, or bypassing security controls.
- Attempt to access another user's account or data without authorization.
- Use the Service to send spam, malware, or deceptive content.
8. Third-Party Services and Links
The Service integrates with third-party providers for hosting, storage, AI processing, authentication, email delivery, analytics, and payments.
Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Your use of third-party services may be subject to those providers' terms and policies.
The Service may include links to third-party websites or resources. We do not control or endorse those sites and are not responsible for their content or practices.
9. Paid Plans, Fees, and Billing
Before checkout, we present material subscription terms, including price, billing interval, and any applicable taxes or trial conditions.
Some features require a paid subscription. Plan pricing, currency, billing interval, and taxes (if applicable) are presented at checkout.
By starting a paid subscription, you provide express consent to recurring charges using your selected payment method until cancellation takes effect.
Checkout and subscription management for active subscriptions are handled through Stripe-hosted flows, including the customer billing portal.
You can cancel online through the customer billing portal. Cancellation should be at least as easy as signup where required by applicable law.
Unless otherwise stated by applicable law or the billing flow, subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period.
You can cancel renewal through the billing portal. Cancellation is typically effective at the end of the current paid period; access may continue until then.
Where required by applicable law, we provide required post-purchase confirmations and renewal reminders (including annual reminders for ongoing plans) using reasonable notice channels such as email or in-product notice.
Plan upgrades or downgrades may apply immediately or at the next renewal date depending on Stripe configuration and payment status.
If pricing changes, we provide advance notice where required by law. Unless required otherwise, changes apply from the next renewal period after notice.
Fees are non-refundable except as required by law or expressly stated at the time of purchase.
If a free or discounted promotional period is offered, promotion-specific terms disclosed at checkout control eligibility, duration, conversion, and billing.
If payment fails, becomes delinquent, or your subscription is otherwise not active, we may restrict paid features, downgrade entitlements, or suspend access until billing is resolved.
10. Free Plan Trial and Page Lifecycle
Free plan publishing uses a limited trial window. By default, free published pages expire after 7 days.
For signed-in users, the free publish window is account-level and one-time. Deleting and recreating a page does not reset the trial window.
When a paid entitlement ends or a free publish window expires, affected published pages may become unavailable or marked expired.
Expired pages may be reactivated only under eligible paid entitlements.
Expired pages may be permanently deleted after a recovery window (60 days by default).
11. Plan Entitlements and Feature Access
Feature access depends on your active plan and entitlement status. This may include limits on generated pages, daily generations, and published pages.
Some capabilities, including visitor analytics and removing Self attribution, are available only on paid plans.
We may update plan limits, packaging, or feature availability over time, subject to applicable law.
12. Feedback
If you provide feedback or suggestions, you grant Self a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use and incorporate that feedback without restriction or compensation.
13. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms or your use poses a risk to the Service or others.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. We may retain or delete your content as described in our Privacy Policy and as required by law.
14. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, Self disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Self does not guarantee that your page will lead to interviews, employment, revenue, or any particular outcome.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Self will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill.
Self's total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid to Self in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 100, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
16. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Self and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your User Content or your use of the Service.
17. Governing Law and Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Self is incorporated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts located in that jurisdiction for disputes arising from these Terms or the Service, except where non-waivable consumer rights require otherwise.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be waived under applicable consumer, privacy, or auto-renewal laws.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Service or by other reasonable means. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version.
By continuing to use the Service after changes become effective, you agree to the updated Terms.
